I never know...

...if LG is really sick!!! She started coughing last week and had a low grade fever. I took her in to the dr. on Saturday morning. She was bouncing around the office like she was feeling great! The dr said she had some sinus drainage but was fine otherwise. He said the fever she had was not even considered fever. OK...and he said to give her some hot apple juice and honey. Huh? Anyway, she was complaining of shooting pains in her left ear so I made an appointment with her ENT (Dr. Jeff Cunningham~the best, CUTEST ENT ever!!!) on Monday. By Monday LG had an ear infection in her right ear (not the ear that was hurting) and fluid behind both ears, which is probably the reason for the pains in her left ear. He put her on an antibiotic and an
antihistamine. We have to go back in 6 weeks for a hearing test and to check to see if she needs a 2nd set of tubes. I sent her to school yesterday because she "seemed" fine and wasn't running a fever. By 11 am they were calling me to come get her because apparently 100.4 is considered fever. Whatever~who decides these rules anyway? They gave me a letter with the date and time on it and said she couldn't come back until she was fever free for 24 hours. DUH!!! This is not my first rodeo. So, we are home again today and she is acting perfectly fine.
I have to keep telling her to sit still because she is supposedly sick. Sick, not sick, fever, not fever, ear infection, clear ears, this mother thing gets more confusing by the day. :)

  1. I'm glad she's not sick sick.

The whole fever at preschool thing is tricky. At my center, if a child has 100.5 or below, we monitor them for an hour or so and recheck. Usually it wll go up over 101 or down to 99, so then we make the call (home if 101, heads up call/monitor if 99).

It's frustrating I know for parents, so I want to make doubly sure befor I just send a child home.
