23 weeks

I still feel great! I feel Carson moving all the time now. I can even see my stomach moving if he gets to going in there. :) I am still craving the sweets~ice cream, brownies, cake, candy bars, donuts, etc. I am trying to keep my intake to once or twice a week! My lower back and hips get a little sore by the end of the day but it's totally bearable.
I went to see Dr. Peeler yesterday. He said everything looked and sounded like it was going very well. I gained 3 lbs in the last month which puts my total weight gain so far at 13 lbs. My friend Kathy looked that up in some book and I should have gained between 12-15 lbs so I'm right on track. I told him I was already having Braxton-Hicks contractions and he told me to take it easy and not to do anything strenuous. I can keep walking every night but nothing more than that. And I forgot to ask him if picking up a 35 lb child several times a day is too much but I don't think I can stop that. :) My next appointment is the glucose test~YUCK!!! Not looking forward to it!

1st trip to the dentist

LG went to the dentist for the 1st time yesterday. She was so good! She was a little scared of all of the equipment at first but after the hygienist demonstrated the electric toothbrush on "Foxy," she felt much better. She let her brush and floss her teeth. Then Dr. Fuson came over and looked at all her teeth with his "special mirror." He said her teeth looked great and to keep up the good work!

As an added bonus, when I was making LG's appointment, the receptionist asked if I was EH Lilley's daughter. I was kind of caught off guard but told her that I was. She told me that my dad used to do the printing for their office (Pediatric Dental) but also would just come by to visit all the time. She went on and on about how they loved my dad and had seen pics of LG and felt like they already knew her and about how much they missed him. Her saying all that to me was truly a gift from God!!

EH "Bubba" Lilley Memorial Golf Tournament 2

Every year since my dad died (2 years now), we have put together a charity golf tournament in his memory. He was an avid golfer and died on a golf course~talk about living every minute of your life!!! :) The proceeds go to the American Heart Association (since he died of a massive heart attack).

We always hold it on the weekend of the week he died (around July 25) and this year it was last weekend. I can't believe I didn't get one picture!! But we had a great turnout! 44 guys played in the tournament, which was held at Wedgewood Golf Course in Olive Branch, MS. My family came from all over the south to support us, friends/family helped more than I can ever thank them for, we had so many donations, i.e. a signed football from Ole Miss, a pearl necklace and earrings from Platinum Jewelers, several restaurant gift cards, a signed basketball from the Univeristy of Memphis, tickets to the zoo, redbirds games, and many more! We all sat down after the tournament and raffled off the prizes and had a great BBQ lunch. It really is a great way to honor my dad's memory and spend time with close friends and family.

Thank you to everyone who helped!! I LOVE Y'ALL!!!!

22 weeks

Trying to stay caught up. Things with LG have gotten better. She's getting back to her old self. I don't know why I thought recovering from surgery would be easy on her. I guess because she's never really shown any signs of sickness, even when she had strep 5 times in 3 months or chronic ear infections. I have never seen her extremely sick so I didn't know how to handle it, which I'm sure is exactly how she felt. But I digress...

I'm still feeling good. I'm hungry for sweets all the time. I don't remember that with LG. I'm sleeping good~just waking up once or twice to go to the bathroom. LG lets me sleep til about 7, which I need to enjoy because in a couple of weeks it'll be back to waking up at 5:30 AM!!!!! Everything else is pretty much the same as last week.

The Dr said...

...once he took LG's tonsils out, he thought she would be a different person...I didn't know he meant she would literally be a different child and NOT in a good way. Since Friday she has been mean, angry, disobedient, non receptive to discipline. She yells, she throws crying, screaming, hitting, kicking fits that can last up to an hour. It has been horrible. This has gone on every day, pretty much all day for 4 days. I have tried every form of punishment in the book and even tried to be supportive, tried to ignore her, etc. and nothing is working!! I don't know if this is normal for her age or because she's been sick, or both, or something totally different. Regardless, I don't know what to do. I am at my wits end and the pregnancy hormones don't help. We took her out yesterday to celebrate her 3rd b-day (which isn't til July 29) at her MiMi's house. You would never know it by the picture below what we have been going through but that was a bright moment in a series of bad ones.

It breaks my heart that she is having such a hard time. I know this will pass but I can't console her or reason with her and that makes me sad~tears :(.

As far as the surgery goes, last Thursday was the worst day physically for her. She hadn't eaten in two days. She threw everything up that she ate/drank. She had a fever between 100-101 til Friday morning. I think she was having a reaction to the Tylenol w/Codeine so I took her off of it and switched her to regular tylenol. She may be angry with me for forcing her to take that horrible medicine, even though she told me it burned her tongue and it clearly wasn't making things "better," which is why I kept telling her she had to take it. Once I switched her to regular tylenol (Friday morning after she threw up in my hand while I was trying to give her the other tylenol) she stopped throwing up, started eating and drinking more, fever was gone, etc. which I thought would be great and we would start to see a happier child. Not so much. On top of all of the temper tantrums, she has started saying over the last couple of days that she is scared to be by herself and even said this morning at 6:55 AM that she didn't want to stay asleep in her room because there were monsters in there. I don't even know where she got that from. She has been sleeping in her room by herself for 3 years!!!!! I am taking her in to see her ENT this afternoon. Even though we weren't supposed to go back for 3 more weeks, I want to make sure she is not in some sort of horrible pain that is causing her to act this way. I hope and pray that we can get all of this under control soon. Please say a prayer for her...and me. :)

21 weeks

I am a little late on posting for last week but it has been HECTIC around here to say the very least. I'll fill you in on that in the next post. But as far as the pregnancy goes, I am feeling good! I am starting to really look pregnant. I think it's because my uterus has finally grown over my belly button so I'm poking out right under my ribs as well as below my waist line. I am still not having to wear maternity clothes. I wear empire waist dresses or regular shorts that a friend gave me that were too big for her (pictured above).

Carson's movements are bigger and more drastic now. Sometimes he'll kick my bladder and I get this funny sensation. It's getting harder to hold LG but I am making it work. Also, I can no longer sleep on my stomach so my hips hurt in the middle of the night depending on which side I have been laying on. I had a craving for Dunkin Donuts and finally got one yesterday. That poor donut didn't make it 1 mile down the road. It was delicious!!! That's pretty much all that's new with the baby. Let me get on to the next post and fill you in on what's really been going on around here.

Well, I guess I spoke too soon on Tuesday. We put LG down Tuesday night just like any other night because she had such a great day. AT 3 AM Wednesday morning she was screaming from her bed and throwing up. She was running 100.7 fever, which continued all day for the rest of Wednesday and into last night. She would hardly eat or drink. She has developed these ulcer spots on her tongue, which adds to her dislike for putting anything in her mouth, including her medicines!!! She laid around a lot and was generally sickly all day yesterday. It broke my heart to see her that way because she is NEVER sick. I honestly cannot tell you the last time she ran a fever. She slept all night last night (thank you, Lord) except for the two times I woke her up to take her pain medicine. She woke me up at 7:45 this morning saying she wanted to eat breakfast and drink some milk. So glad to hear those words! She is not running a fever this morning so far so she is able to drink milk. She is kind of picking at her breakfast but as long as she's drinking, I feel a little better. Let's hope she is over the greatest recovery hump and will start to feel better every day from here on out.

Tonsils out!!

LG had her tonsils out today. We had to be at the surgery center at 6:30 this morning which meant waking LG up at 5:50 AM. She got to go through the "bunny tunnel" and pick out a toy on her way to surgery (see picture below). She couldn't decide between the bubbles or the spinning light wand so they her take them both back with her. Dr. Jeff said she could keep both "since her b-day is coming up." :) We love Dr. Jeff!!
Her surgery went well; it only took about 15 minutes. She came out of anesthesia perfectly but had about a 45 minute temper tantrum as she was "coming around." The nurse said that was totally normal. Below is post-surgery and post-tantrum.

Dr. Jeff said she may not want to eat or drink for the next few days. HA!! She drank an entire cup of apple juice between the office and home. She's had another one since and is on her third cup now. She's eaten pudding, a bowl of fruit loops, a donut, some hashbrown, and a popsicle all between 9:30 and 12:30. He gave her Tylenol with codeine for the pain~isn't that supposed to make you sleep? I mean, especially considering she had surgery this morning and got up at 5:50 AM? Well, big surprise, LG hasn't napped yet. When I put her in her room for nap time, she laid in her bed for 45 minutes until her CD stopped playing which she knows means she's been in her room long enough regardless of whether she's slept or not...out she comes ready to play with the toys she got in the tunnel this morning. I had a nap all planned out for myself. Oh well~one day I will realize that things don't always go as planned, even when you plan for the worst, hoping for better, but get the best! So glad she hasn't been knocked down or even slowed down by this surgery!

1st time in "Big" church

Our church devotes a portion of the 8:15 service to a "Word to the Children." The children get to go down front and someone delivers a special message specifically designed for young children. Today was LG's first time to get to participate in this (shes usually in the nursery during this time). It is not until about the middle of the service so LG had to sit through about 20 minutes of singing and prayer, etc. She kept telling Andy and I that she wanted to go "see Jesus." I explained to her that we can't "see" Jesus, that he lives in our hearts and we feel him. She thought about this for a second and said, "I want to go see Jesus." So Andy (with his Catholic upbringing) showed her the cross over the pulpit and told her that Jesus lived in the cross and watched her from there. Again, she thought about it for a second and said, "I want to go see Jesus." Hmmm...any suggestions? :)

She also saw her Sunday school teachers, Mr. Howard and Mrs. Nina from her seats both in the pew and down front and proceeded to wave emphatically!!! She is a social butterfly! I imagine this next baby will have straight dark brown hair, look like me, and be opposite of our little "Curly Sue."

Name drop

Well, after much consideration and debate, Andy and I have finally decided on a boy name...

We had a girl's name all picked out (Olivia Hope) but God had other plans :). So~I took to the internet and went through the entire "Baby Names" website's list of names from A~Z! It took me 2 days!! I had a sad little list of 5 names and Carson is the one Andy and I both liked. Daniel is Andy's dad and older brother's name so that was an easy choice. We will call him Carson. We LOVE the name and can't wait to put a face with it!!

20 weeks

So, it's official I am halfway done!!! I feel great. I can feel the baby move and Andy even felt him the other night. I am craving ice cream and I mean, the real stuff~not frozen yogurt or even store bought. I want 11 grams of fat a teaspoon, Baskin Robbins!!!!!!! I have to treat myself only once a week because I could eat it everyday if I gave into my cravings! Last pregnancy it was Chick-Fil-A cookies and cream milkshakes but I tried one of those the other day and it just didn't do it for me. BR it is then!! :) I can still lay on my stomach but no longer on my back. Everything else is pretty much the same as last week. We are settling on a name I think but I will save that for it's own post. Stay tuned in!

Doctors, doctors, and more doctors

We have spent the better part of the last 3 months in some sort of doctor's office, whether it be LG's pediatrician, her ENT dr, or the pediatric allergist, she has seen her fair share. It surrounds the fact that LG has had strep 6 times in that time. The ENT wanted to rule out everything else before he decided to take her tonsils out. The above pics were taken at the allergist's office. The first one is where they number each section of her back 1~4 and then test to see if she has any allergies. The second one is LG keeping herself occupied while we wait on the test results. Luckily, LG is all clear! So~the tonsils are scheduled to come out on July 12th. Hopefully, that will put an end to her illnesses for a while!

Don't mess with a good thing!!

People have asked me time and time again what I do to Lilley Grace's hair. I am content to put some water and a little gel in it. Sometimes I stick a little bow off to the side but I never brush the hair into the bow, I just slide the bow into the hair as not to anger the hair.

My mom decided she would put some ponytails in LG's hair and let me tell you, LG was proud of them!! She sees little girls at her school who have pigtails and ponytails and wants them in her hair too. As you can see, this is not something we would consider wearing out in public but it is totally acceptable in our front Mississippi!!!
