LG had her tonsils out today. We had to be at the surgery center at 6:30 this morning which meant waking LG up at 5:50 AM. She got to go through the "bunny tunnel" and pick out a toy on her way to surgery (see picture below). She couldn't decide between the bubbles or the spinning light wand so they her take them both back with her. Dr. Jeff said she could keep both "since her b-day is coming up." :) We love Dr. Jeff!!
Her surgery went well; it only took about 15 minutes. She came out of anesthesia perfectly but had about a 45 minute temper tantrum as she was "coming around." The nurse said that was totally normal. Below is post-surgery and post-tantrum.
Dr. Jeff said she may not want to eat or drink for the next few days. HA!! She drank an entire cup of apple juice between the office and home. She's had another one since and is on her third cup now. She's eaten pudding, a bowl of fruit loops, a donut, some hashbrown, and a popsicle all between 9:30 and 12:30. He gave her Tylenol with codeine for the pain~isn't that supposed to make you sleep? I mean, especially considering she had surgery this morning and got up at 5:50 AM? Well, big surprise, LG hasn't napped yet. When I put her in her room for nap time, she laid in her bed for 45 minutes until her CD stopped playing which she knows means she's been in her room long enough regardless of whether she's slept or not...out she comes ready to play with the toys she got in the tunnel this morning. I had a nap all planned out for myself. Oh well~one day I will realize that things don't always go as planned, even when you plan for the worst, hoping for better, but get the best! So glad she hasn't been knocked down or even slowed down by this surgery!
