Allergies & CMOM

I have been having allergy problems since I was in my early 20's but ever since I had Carson, they just seemed to get worse and worse. Finally after one week of sleepless nights and coughing my head off, I made an appointment with an allergist. They poked me about 40 times and then gave me 10 little shots to figure out exactly what was going on. I am allergic to dust, dogs, and cats. Since dust is year round and I'm not getting rid of my dog, I am now taking Claritin once a day, using nasal steroids twice a day, and I start allergy shots next week~once a week for at least a year. I am so happy to finally be on a path to controlling these allergies.

Saturday, we decided to take the kids to the Children's Museum of Memphis (CMOM). It's an expensive way to kill a couple of hours with two kids who NEVER stop!

 Future pilots??? Lord, help us. :)

 Andy asked LG to take a pic with the internal organs shirt on and she was NOT having it. I managed to get a quick shot while she was pouting. LOL!

Carson had a blast in the grocery store. He wanted to get all the groceries down himself and put them up himself. He refused to let me help him.

Carson also found the lego room, but did he play with the legos? No...he found the broom and dustpan that had been left in there by the cleaning crew and proceeded to sweep under the tables! ;)

Their favorite place by far (Andy included) was the room where you shove scarves and balls in a vacuum tube, they travel through the tube, and shoot out of the top.

You can see they are all looking up, waiting for the stuff to shoot out of the tube!

Expensive but fun. Maybe we'll get a membership when the sprinkler park opens up. :)

Bachelorette weekend

This past weekend, I went with a group of girls to Nashville to celebrate my BFF, Alisha's bachelorette statuts. :) We got there around 7ish Friday night and hooked up with our other BFF, Shannon, who lives in Nashville.

 We went to a Mexican restaurant called Cantina Loredo for dinner. While the wait was almost 2 hours, I would dare to say it was worth it because the food and margaritas were fabulous but next time we'll be calling ahead for reservations! We then went to a karaoke bar that had a dance club attached and if you know me at all, you know I.WAS.IN.HEAVEN!!! I love to dance and dance I did until early morning!

Saturday morning, Shannon's son was playing in a soccer game so a few of us went and watched him. We spent the rest of the day at the Opry Mills Mall doing some shopping.

 Saturday night we went to The Patterson House, where again the wait was 2 hours. They took our number and called us when our table was ready so we were able to go hang out at some other bars locations until time to eat. The Patterson House is definitely an experience but I don't know if I would go back again. It's really not a place you would go for dinner; it has more like appetizers. Everything about the drinks is freshly made, which is kind of cool but I wasn't that impressed. Drinks at Iris will do me just fine. :) We tried to go out downtown afterwards but it was just packed and we had really done it up the night before. 

We headed back in around 12 am. We headed back Sunday morning and this is what I came back to: 

STRAIGHT HAIR!!!

LG spent the night with my cousin, Jennifer, on Friday night and Jennifer took 1.5 hours of her time to straighten her hair. WOW! Lots of hair. LG loved it and she wanted to show everybody, so she kept it straight Saturday while she went to a birthday party and Sunday while she went to church. She realized that while having straight hair is fun (since she's never seen it that way in her entire 5 years), most people LOVE her curls. I am so glad that she got to have this experience so she will stop wishing for straight hair and can appreciate how unique she is with her curls. 

Funny thing~Andy was so upset when he saw her hair straight because he truly believed that it would stay that way forever...I asked him what planet he was from and quickly informed him that the second water touched her hair, it would go right back to the way it was! Men...

So much to share...

Let me start off by saying that the past few weeks of my life were a complete whirlwind. I didn't have time to think, let alone post on the blog. So, two things are about to happen...1. I am going to unload a ton of pics and 2. unload a ton of info about what has happened in our lives in such a short time.

It all started on Wednesday, Dec. 18 with LG and I attending PJ story time at our church. After the story, we sat around with our friends, had cookies and some fellowship time.

 Thursday, Dec 20, I went to LG's school to have lunch with her and attend her Christmas party. It was so much fun to be able to see her in her classroom, with her friends. 

Friday, Dec 20, we FINALLY closed on our house and started packing what little we took to the apartment so we could try to get settled in the house by Christmas Eve, with prayers of being able to have a tree up for Christmas. While we were in the apartment, we had NO room for a tree so I didn't put one up. LG asked me how Santa would know we were celebrating Christmas if we didn't have a tree. I told her we wanted Santa to visit us in our new house so we would put one up there, which bought me time in the apartment but forced me into having a tree in the house even if it was still covered in moving boxes!

However, the forecast for "moving" weekend was severe thunderstorms all weekend! Really?! Not nice but we hired movers and it helped us get into the house faster!

I had to go to the apartment after everything was moved out and clean it. The kids came with me and at one point I walked into the kitchen and found Carson in the refrigerator. LOL!

 We worked our tails off all weekend (Dec. 21-22). My mom and Andy's mom watched the kids so we could be about the business of unpacking and making the house livable.

And lo and behold~a sweet little Christmas tree just in time for Christmas Eve! Thank you Lord for making that possible!

 A few miscellaneous activities we were able to participate in while we were on break:

LG and I served dinner to some homeless people downtown through our church. Of course, she made a friend in the sweet piano player. She helped set up the tables and then sat with him the rest of the time. She has such a sweet heart~what an answer to prayer.

 My mom took LG to get some new shoes and Santa happened to be at the shoe store.

We ate at Hooters for lunch on Christmas Eve! That should be an Adair family tradition. We all love that place so much.

 LG spread out the food for the reindeer and alas, I have NO pics from Christmas day.

Don't get it twisted~we may have moved to a house in the OB but we grew up in Hickory Hill. Apparently, you can take the kid out of Hickory Hill but you can't take the gangsta out of the kid!

Closing date has been moved from December 16th to the 20th. We are fine with that; we just hope to be in before the end of the year. I'm getting so excited!!

What a child hears...

Lilley Grace has been saying the funniest things lately, so I had to write them down so I would remember them.

She told me the other night that her granddaddy was "an aunt sister." I said, "What is that?" She said, "A person that lived a long time before us." Oh! An ancestor!!!

We spent a day at the Wolfchase last week. She wanted to pose outside on the wall.

 I wanted to get a picture of the two of us on our girls' day.

I told her as we were walking in that the mall had a carousel. She asked what that was. I said, "You know, the ride where you get on a horse and it goes around and around." She said (so seriously), "Mama, that's a merry go round. You said a carrot sale!"

 We went to Birmingham for the weekend to spend Thanksgiving with my family. We had a blast! We spent the night at my cousin's house, hung out with he and his wife and their 3 kids. Most of the rest of my family came over on Saturday and we ate a great lunch and watched some football (we won't talk about that). My mom, Lg, and I spent Saturday night at the Birmingham Galleria where LG got to ride another "carrot sale." :) Check out the child in the sleigh behind LG photo-bombing the picture!

Saturday morning Andy took the kids to get donuts. This is the one LG picked out.

 Just a little happy to end on. Carson LOVES to sweep and clean. When he walked into his room with the broom, Andy told him to stop carrying Peppi's (my mom's) car around. LOL!!
